system crashed--memory error

I was playing on my 4400 the other day, and suddenly the system just shut down and tried to restart. Upon restarting, prior to loading Windows, it said a file was missing and could be repaired with the Windows Setup Disk. I restarted again (several times), and sometimes it said a different file was missing. Either way, it could not continue to load Windows. So I tried using the Windows CD-ROM to repair it, but during that process I get other errors. One of them is as follows:

"File setupdd.sys could not be loaded. The error code is 7. Setup cannot continue. Press any key to exit."

Sometimes the setup gets past that point and begins the installation (after asking me if I want to overwrite the currently installed version or try to repair it), but crashes again during installation and cannot continue. Here is the error message I get when I try to re-install Windows or boot it from the hard drive:

"A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you've seen this step error screen, restart your coputer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Disable or uninstall any anti-virus, disk defragmentation or backup utilities. Check your hard drive configuration, and check for any updated drivers. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer.

Technical information:
*** STOP: 0x00000024 (0x001902F8, 0xF9EA5144, 0xF9EA4E44, 0x8018E893)"

I don't have an anti-virus, disk defrag or backup utilities on it (except the Windows components, but I haven't used them). Running CHKDSK reveals no problems, nor does SCANDISK show anything wrong. So I tried the Diagnostics disk, and got the following error:

System Memory-Memory Address Line Test : Fail
Status: Fail Status Code: DOS DDG-D Memory 010 025
Release: 1080 Module(s): Memory
Msg: System memory failure. Read FF00FFFFh, expected FFFFFFFFh at address 0813C000h. Suspected memory component located on System board, at labels DIMM1J5G1.

So does this mean I have a bad memory module? And does my Dell warranty cover it? What can I do to fix it quick?

Thanks,
-David Sims-

Yes your memory module has failed, call dell and report the error.
