system stops after booting up

Question

I have a dell dem. 3000, after turned on its runs through the loading Windowns screen and then stops displaying, all I have is a blank screen, any help on this, thanks!!!

Can you start in safe mode (F8 before Windows starts to load). Peter

Ya, that what I did and got it started fine, now I can't get any sound from the speakers, the fault message says I have no audio device or it can't find it, it was working well before all this started, any ideas on this maybe??

You won't have any sound in safe mode. Or are you saying you don't have any sound in normal mode? Did you check in the device manager to see if any devices have problems? Peter
