System.ini backup file

I believe I have a problem with my System.ini file.  I have a backup file and was wondering how and if I should use this.  I have a Dell Dimension 4100 using Windows Me.

Hi,

We need some more background information before anyone can tell you for sure that this will work.
But for the most part, if you copy you present file and use your backup file it will not cause any problems since you can always use the file that you made a copy of if things don't work out.

So what do you exactly need, and how do I do this.

Hi again,

What makes you think that the System.ini file is the cause of your problem?

I have no sound, but when I run a selective startup and uncheck the system.ini box, I have sound but the resolution is different and only get 16 colors.

OK,

Go ahead and backup your present system.ini file to a floppy disk and/or your desktop.
Replace the current system.ini file with the backup file you said you have. Let us know how it goes.
