First, are you running a RAID or SSD's? You will see a small increase in performance with the processors you listed, but much more if you went with an SSD raid 10 with 4 drives instead of spending money on 4 core processors. You can get a good used LSI card and four new 250gb SSD's for under $1000.00 and you would see a huge increase in overall system performance vs mechanical hard drives. If that isn't an option, you will see a SMALL increase in performance with the processor upgrades.

Martin, sorry for the long long delay replying.  I have 2 256gb SSDs and no raid. What is raid 10 with 4 drives and a LSI card?   Two more  256gb SSD's is not a problem if I get a huge increase in overall system performance but I don't mechanical hard drives. What should I do?

Thanks

You'll likely need to replace the existing processors (finding a match for the existing one may not be easy and many applications require identical CPUs, and given the cost of the rest of the parts -- contact a Dell authorized reseller in your location.
