The Buzz!

This is odd...

My new XPS is up and running, and it is pretty cool. But...

Here I am, gaming away, and the thing is buzzing. It is faint, but I can hear a buzz.

I alt-tab out of my game, and the buzzing stops. EXCEPT if I use my scroll mouse to scroll through a webpage, adn even then it isn't constant.. just short little bzzz's. In the game, it is constant.

What is that? Something linked to video?

When you say gaming, are you using a disc to do so?

That may be your buzzing noise right there.

Heh... guys, trust me, this isn't the CDROM going, and that wouldn't explain why it does it in, say, Internet Explorer.

And no, it isn't a fly.

Probably a fan or possibly a loose screw ... if you are comfortable doing so without electrocuting yourself (or children or pets), why don't you open the case and see if you can identify the source of the noise (video card fan, etc.)

I have the same thing, it is one of the fans increasing speed inside the case. Mine pulsates somewhat. It's not loud, just irregular so it stands out.

I have the exact same problem. It is definitely coming from the sound card. Normally it is relatively quiet except for browsing the start menu, playing a video, opening new windows, or other odd times. And if I launch a game, it gets noticeably louder. Tried to grab a quick vid of it, bad quality, but kinda gets the point across.
