I bought it and didn't like it. It transferred more than I wanted and more than I selected, including the recycle bin in the old computer.

I had to wind up restoring the PC back to the origninal configuration and starting over. Speed was what I would consider slow, too. The program estimated 8 hours to transfer from the old to the new.

Windows XP comes with a built in transfer program that does about what the Detto program does. Use that and get a "null modem" cable (a cross over cable that allows you to hook two computers together through the com port). The null cable is cheaper than the $40 for the Detto program.

Thanks, both. I will look it up now and also the null cable info. Tricia

Read William Mossberg's column in the Wall Street Journal or view it on line. He just reviewed what is out there to transfer computer programs, (tough) and files, (easy with Aloha Bob.) He says, the XP utility sort of works. You may also hook the old hard drive in series with your new one and move data.

You don't happen to know the day that was in the WSJ? They have subscriber only webpage, but maybe my dad has it. Thanks.
