Windows Temp, there were four files
you double click on the one with the
what looks like gears in it, now that was
the only way I can explain that, when you
do this a sign saying Teawkui has to be run
from the Control Panel comes up, I clicked OK
and then it said it could not find one of the
other files, so I put Windows Temp as the
files location and it installed Teawkui in the
Control Panel,Hope this works for you to.

I have the TweakUI (.exe file dated 12/22/2000) installed. Perhaps you might consider going to Control Panel and confirming that your old copy of TweakUI has been removed from the Add/Remove Programs feature. If it is still on the list, remove/uninstall it. Then download the .exe file again. When asked where you would like to place the four unzipped "files" (it automatically recommends the C:\Windows\TEMP folder), you may wish to select a different folder before clicking on unzip. I do not recall having any problem going to Control Panel, right clicking on the TweakUI listing and making a shortcut to my desktop. I now activate the program from there. As you may already know, the icon is a monitor with a hammer and gear in front of the screen.

Once you've found some, right click on them. Is the 'install' option missing from other .inf files as well?

If you uninstall everything, then try going to:
http://www.annoyances.org/exec/show/tweakui
and reading everything...especially the note at the bottom of the download for your operating system. Then try a new download from that site and follow the posted instructions. If you continue to encounter problems, it looks like this site discusses many aspects of Tweak UI and you might find further assistance there. Good luck.

Next, have you done a simple file search for any other TweakUI files on your system? Double click on the tweakui.hlp file and then read the Contents, especially all the "How to's." As a last resort, I would read all the "uninstall" info and do exactly as directed depending on your situation. Then try one more download-reinstall. The fact that you had TweakUI on your system before is very suspicious and could indicate that something still remains that is preventing your new installation.
As you saw from the URL I provided below, XP requires a different handling for TweakUI. Good luck!
