two problems restarting and cannot find floppy diskette

Question

hello people   i have two problems   1) my computer will not restart i have to turn the pc off and then reboot....it gets to the off and then starts kicking in again but hangs on the part after the xp screen.  (this problem was solved once by tech support, but i cannot remember how...i think it was something to do with the mouse when it was replaced)   2) when i reboot i have to press f2 after the xp logo and it says (floppy diskette not found)  i aint got one.   any help appreciated.       dimension 8400

sorted out the floppy diskette problem by turnning the search off on start up.   just the restart problem left.
