Upgrade Dimension 3100C
Hi. This is my first time posting. so don't know if i'll get this right first time.
I have a Dimension 3100C, OS Windows xp home. My question is, can I upgrade it to dual core processor.?
Tried to find out from Dell support, but they want to charge me to answer the question.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks..

No, the e310/3100 takes only P4 or Celeron-D processors.
A Socket LGA 775 Prescott, P4 3.4gb, 800FSB is the maximum size processor that can be installed.

Happy to have helped.
Try to wait until later on this year, before buying a new computer, then you should be able to buy it with Windows 7. :emotion-55:

What Dell would you reccomend. I'm not a gamer, but would like one faster than the Dimension 3100c.

The Inspiron 530 Mini Tower [not the SlimLine Case model], with a Core 2 Quad processor would be a good choice, this model would be easier to upgrade as it takes full size cards and has a PCI Express x16 slot.

You need a low profile PCI graphics card, similar to the cards shown HERE

Mert.
The low profile card in your link HERE should be fine.
Guess you need to find a vendor in the UK, that has the card.
The card has a passive heatsink and should not overheat.
