Upgrades Cause problems

I have a new Deminsion 4700 (less than a year)  I installed some upgrades last night and now I can't open any of my files, my MSN window has changed and won't let me get on the internet and evertime I move to a different window there is a square in the middle of my screen with a part of the old window that won't go away.  They just stack up on each other and about an hour later finally completely close.

 

I had to go to my laptop to send this message.

 

Should I restore my computer to the previous time before the upgrades.
