Upgrading graphics card

I have a Dimension 4700 desktop pc w/XP professional ops.
I recently ordered a graphics card from Dell using the advice
from technical support.  I took my computer to CompUSA to
have the card installed.  they told me the card was the wrong
one.  It was an ATI Radeon 128 MB AGP 8x/4x.  I was told the
graphics card in my computer is built into the motherboard,
and the slot for an upgrade requires PCI express 16x graphics
card.  Is this info correct for my system?  What kind of card can
I get to upgrade to 3D graphics for the Tiger Woods Golf game.
The game recommends ATI orNVidia.

How much do you want to spend? The lowest you'd want to go is a Geforce 6600GT, which runs around $100-130.

Yes, the correct info for your system is PCI-express. You're in luck because there has been a lot of price compression in midrange PCIe cards. At lower end there is the 6600GT, ~$114. In the middle is the X800GTO, ~$140. At the top of the range is the X850XT, $200. You could argue that the X850XT is still a highend card. :smileywink: instead of performance-midrange.

There's definitely a sweet spot at this moment for fast performance on PCI-e in upper mainstream.
Like herb wrote, X850XT for $209 is OK.
I prefer GeForce 6800 GS for $174 from MonarchComputer this week (and a few other vendors, too).
