usb problems

i have xps 700 and i have just installed my mp3 music software and i plug in my mp3 and it doesn't get recognized by the computer no box comes up saying new hardware found... i have checked the settings and it says my usb is working properly.. also i have tried to connect my digital camera to the comp to transfer my pics and it doesn't work either... what can i do to solve this problem?

do u have any other usb devices connected ? do they work?

well i've only tried the two things... i dont own that many usb products...

I got my system last week. It had a similar problem. It did not recognize USB devices from the front panel but worked ok from the back. I found and unseated connetor behind the front panel.

ok well i tried again in the back and got it working but i really need to get front ones working as my computer desk is really hard to get in the back of..

we'll ive emailed them as i just got this comp so it'll still be under warranty.. so if they don't reply today i guess i'll call tomorrow.. thanks for the help guys!

Id call Dell Technical support and report your problem.. maybe a loose cable inside..

Until you get the front usb ports working you can leave the usb cable plugged in the back and disconnect the cable at the divice.  Works the same and you don't have to keep crawling around the back of the desk.
