VIRTUAL MACHINE UPGRADE

I have the standard issue Win98 second edition. In the list of critical upgrades from microsoft, is an upgrade of virtual machine. I have all sorts of virtual drivers etc. Do I have "virtual machine?" Should I accept the upgrades? I would appreciate some advice. I do not want to trash my OS which is currently working well. As usual, I am perplexed.

The virtual machine is what runs Java applets. I did the upgrade and have had no problems.

Me neither, in fact it's one of the MS upgrades that actually made things perform better....
