Virtual Memory problem

Question

Everytime I update norton internet securtiy and get the new url update. It download with no problem but when it start to install that when the Virtual memory alert comes on. I have try to change it so that windows mange it but it will not stay it goes back to costom size? This is on the administrator account. And after I live update norton it is still there to update again.The computer is a D 2400 with windows xp.    Thank you for any help you can give

How much RAM do you have in your 2400? You might want to think about increasing it, which may provide a small performance boost.

ram is 512mb.And I have not use all the space in the memory I have use 7.49GB out of 74.4 GB.I am wondering if it the temp internet file that maybe cause the problem I have use the disk clean but I heard that it does not get rid of it all.If so what program is good to get to get rid of it all. No, this is not related to temp internet files. Your 512 MB should be enough for most Windows applications, and 7.5 GB should be way enough. See if things improve with that setting.

I just try to change the setting but there is just the c:/ drive and nothing else witch is weird I do have a e:/ and d:/ drive but it is not list in the Virtual Memory there but it is listed in My Computer icon?

I try to update it again and I was watching the task manager the hole time.Cpu Usage never hit 100% the highest it when was 22%.But Pf Usage hit 1.95 GB. The update that I am down loading is 17401k.I have down load programs lot large then that. just a few minutes ago it was spybot search and destory. So I am thinking it is something to do with the norton update they have. What do you think
