Hi,

I wasn't sure where I was supposed to post this but here is my question. I am planning to get virus scanner such as Norton or Macafee. Which is better or the best virus protection software out there? Any reccomendations? Which one has good options and features?, Thanks!!

You might want to try the free antivirus available here. I've been using it for nearly two years with absolutely no conflicts, or other problems. (You'll note that these boards are loaded with postings regarding difficulties with Norton, and even moreso, with McAfee.)

The Norton AntiVirus that came with your system is a good product.

I have used both Norton and McAfee. I have used a few others also. I have always liked Norton better. Norton is also one of the higher rated antivirus programs. For some it is what they get used too. I find Norton easy to use and it does a good job. I just bought Norton Antivirus 2003 for my Dimension 4500. I got a good price on it at this site, and version 2002 is even cheaper> http://www.eastoutlet.com/allframes.htm

If you want the fastest, smallest, and most thorough then choose NOD32. It is not as cheap as Norton or McAfee but you get what you pay for. Get it here: http://www.nod32.com/home/home.htm. I have tried many (with the exception of McAfeee) and NOD32 tops them all in my book.

I hate Mcafee. I have been with Norton almost forever with virus protection. I loaded mcafee on my computer with no other virus software installed and I ended up formatting my hard drive. I would not recommend mcafee in ever.

We have used Mcafee for about six years on 2 computers and have not had a problem. Updated as necessary and leave other things alone. If not broken do not try to fix it! Solves more problems then you can imagine.

Much Mcafee hating at this site but there are many using it properly!
