What is a good computer for 3d rendering programs?

I am looking for a dell computer that has the capability of using 3d rendering programs to produce artwork and also for gaming.  I have been lost because there are so many options and the dell website its confusing.  Can you please direct me a way to figure out what computer I need?
Thank you a whole bunch!!

The D 8400 or XPS 4 are your 2 choices with the P4 3.6 GHz CPU and top Video card choice.

Min 1 Gig of ram.

I would go with the 8400.  The XPS4 is similar hardware and $500+ more than the 8400.

The 8400 is the best "bang for the buck".  Any processor offered should be fine, and 1 gig RAM minimum as well.    Go with 80+ gig HD.

Intel has new processors coming out this summer (Pentium D) so if you could wait, you might find it best to do so.
