What socket type is my processor- Dimension 3000

Question

Hi, i'm not very good with computers but am upgrading my Dimension 3000s motherboard so it allows PCI-E graphics cards. However to do so I will need to know my processors socket type and id prefer not to pull it out to see... does anyone know how i can tell?

Fishstick123, Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum. The processor in the Dimension 3000 is the socket 478.

Note that replacing the mainboard requires some wiring modification and you will not be able to use the Dell Windows CD to reload Windows on the new board - you will need to buy a retail copy of Windows.
