The warning is based on Optiplex Desktop/SFF/USFF.

In the event that the hard drive must be replaced, the replacement drive must be a Western Digital or Samsung because of thermal constraints in the chassis. The computer automatically performs a check when starting up, and if an invalid configuration is detected, the check stops and a message appears

"HDD replacement is not valid, continued use may result in long term HDD reliability issues, please press F1 if you would like to continue, and/or call Dell for replacement HDD"

Ok, managed platform, got it. Are they joined at the hip, or can I set up the UART as a regular COM port?

One more?

Put in SSD as boot disk, set up BIOS for AHCI, all fine, but POST is putting up a warning about the disk. The disk itself works fine, Win7 rating went from 5.4 to 7.2, but I'd like to stop the warning, which requires a keypress (F1, F2, F5)

What is the warning?

Yeah, that's it. Only I've got the DT chassis, and the SSD is definitely lower power that the original drive. I did get the keypress to go away, possibly by turning off keyboard error reporting in BIOS. Also selected the SSD by name in the boot order, rather than the default "Onboard" drive entry.

Good enough, as they say.
