yeah but i only have the QX6700 so no gain there.

System: Dell XPS 720
Version: A03
Release Date: 7/23/2007

1. Added support for new processors.
2. Update to chipset over-voltage support.
  that's nice, what is it?
3. Added C1E support.                                      slows the cpu down when load is low?
4. Modified our SERR enable\disable code. what is SERR? and what did you modify to the code?

How about some hardware monitoring in the bios? Voltage, TEMPS, more user tweaks would solve alot of stability issues.
Also, control over the fan speeds, this thing blows very hot air out the back right after it passes the hard drives since heat rises to the top.
My drives were too hot to touch for more than 5 seconds, so I added a nice Sunon 120mm fan in the back which now blows the heat out before it hits the hard drives.

Ntune is not going to be accurate or stable to monitor or adjust anything. It stinks.

Get some necessary features in the bios and lot's of bugs will go away.

And why is that?
When I got my rig...err, headache, I opened a white little manual and it said  "Congratulations, you have just purchased the best"

The best what?
Joke, like funny haha?

HP's Blackbird is looking like it will be the XPS killer.
User friendly, no proprietary Bull, water cooled cpu AND Gpu's, and now offering a special edition with features added by gamers who asked for them.

Dell, fix the stupid stuff and get some workers who know what the heck to do.
You just laid off 1000's of people and now I got Stevie Wonder building my 6 grand rig!!

One guy I spoke to in Customer Care thought nVidia and an 8800 were two different components.

Maybe I'll ebay the game crasher and buy the HP.

Or, maybe an official responce from Dell about making things better and giving use for starters, a REAL bios.

And give us a front panel to fit things other than 5 dvd roms.
I like control over fans and system monitoring, which the XPS doesn't even have in the bios, or a program for windows!

HandSolo,

We will not change the bios on this line to add features that we do want to support.

"We will not change the bios on this line to add features that we do want to support."

That makes no sense.

HandSolo,

Sure it does. Marketing tells us what they want the PC to support. We go to the manufacturer and get it built along those specifications. We then support those specifications. Any new technology that comes out would hopefully be included in the next PC.

Since when is hardware monitoring new technology?
Every bay has a DVD/CD Rom faceplate.
Who uses 4 Optical drives?
Since Marketing doesn't want the PC to support hardware monitoring for who knows why.
At least make the last few bays accept bay devices such as, multi function devices that will monitor at least some temps inside the case.
The ambient air inside my rig was 51c on the floor of the case and 57c up top.
That's at idle and insane.  30c is the limit for ambient air in a case and that's high.
The air flow is weak and slow which adds to the heat issue.

I'm going to fix that and document the steps, parts and why it's needed for full blown gaming rigs.
Already have a fan controller with 4 temp monitors and another with 2 temp monitors in Dells proprietary bays.

Listen to your customer base and not Marketing.

How do I determine which bios I am using? Am I justified in updating my bios even if my computer appears to be running effectively?
