Can't speak to XP Home ed., but I've done everything I can think of to try and crash XP Pro, including some reliable and repeatable combinations of app's that used to grenade Me 100% of the time, and I'll be darned if I can stop it! I've left mine running for three days at a stretch - no problemo.
Believe me (and a bunch of others herein) - you'll be GLAD you upgraded from Me to XP!

When I had Win ME I would not leave my system running for a long time without rebooting to free up system resources due to system slow downs.
I have been running XP home for about 3 weeks now and I can leave it running all day without any loss of resources or any system slow downs. I believe XP handles memory differently than the old Windows 9x versions and is much more efficient.

WinXP is a very stable operating system bases on the NT/Win2000. I have run all operating systems from Win2.0 thru XP Home edition and XP Pro. XP Pro and Home Edition are almost identical. Pro is geared towards server application in a business environment. But the same system is used for both Home and Pro.
Resources in XP are greatly an improvement over the Win90's / ME systems of the past. With in the next 1-2 years Win 90's/ME will be dinosoars and will be history. Xp will rule and a very stable platform.
At work I loaded Evaluation copies a couple moths ago and I have yet shut my system down. I even leave it running over the weekends. Hell I am off from noon last Wednesday And I won't be back there until Monday. And I know it'll be in the same condition as I left it.
This was the primary reason I upgraded to XP. With Me, I constantly encountered "user resource" issues, particularly with a couple of apps I use intensively for web design. MusicMatch Jukebox Plus was another prime offender.
With XP Pro, I can load any number of instances of any or all of the former offenders, and it digests it all without a hiccup.
For once, the product lives up to its hype - MS hit a HOME RUN as far as I'm concerned!

I have had XP Pro since beta 1 and beta 2 and now the release version and not once had a crash or lock-up. Now that the vendors and Dell have updated software and drivers to work with it, nothing could be sweeter. There is nothing out there as stable as that to go to. Also, having trashed ALL my HP products and switched to Epson, I can honestly say I have one very sweet complete system! Nothing works wrong or bad. HP was a thorn in my systems printer and scanner. Epson was a 'right' choice and all is well now...
