xps 710

I am helping a friend with his xps 710 when you go to turn it on it does nothing no lights is it the power supply and where do I start

Yes more then likely it's the power supply. To make sure you need to remove it and get it tested and start looking for a replacement.

Here is video: NOTE, take more care in removing the cables and power supply from case, so you can get them back into same configuration when new PSU is available.

If the power button light and the four Diagnostic lights are not lite, replacing the power supply would be a good place to start.
 
Only a 700/710/720 power supply will work. the power requirements for these systems is extremely proprietary.
