XPS 8900 memory/ram maximum

Has anybody out there tried stuffing 64GB into an XPS 8900 with an i7 6700 in it?

I can't see why you wouldn't be able to unless the MB chipset doesn't support it (unlikely), or unless Dell crippled it on purpose in the bios.  Intel doesn't say if there is a limitation on the chipset.  It just wouldn't make sense as ANY 6th gen i-series processor will support 64GB of ram.  I would assume that corresponding chipsets from Intel would support the same. I don't see a spec on the size of stick supported in Dell's manuals anywhere either.  I am aware that Dell says 32 GB max in available configurations, but they don't necessarily say its an actual limit.  I think they probably get their 8GB sticks way cheaper per GB than they would get 16GBs, so they just don't bother with the option.  Probably not a huge call for mid-end tower's with 64GB.  Though 16s are available they appear to still be rare in non-ECC.

I don't plan on doing this anytime soon even if I can, because I don't need it .  Just curious about it.  Curious about why they would put a pcie x4 disguised as a pcie x16 for slot 4 as well, but leave slot 3 as a regular pcie x4 :)
