XPS gen 5 case problem

Question

My gen 5 case wont open, the mechanism to open it seems to be stuck between the open and closed position, and i just realized that the case is not 100 percent; closed. is there any way i that can open the case without causing damage to my system?

I have a Gen 2 case with the opposite problem, it refuses to latch most of the time.  The latch handle is also counter-intuitive which doesn't help.  It looks like you should pull outward laterally to operate the latch handle but, no, you actually pull or push upwards to open or close the darn thing.  I can only suggest you try to move the latch handle in every posssible direction and you might get lucky.   VR
