Hi

Read this link you can not run a core 2 duo or quad cores

your computer is stuck with P 4,s or dual core at 800 FSB OR 1666 FSB Chips

a dual core is not a core 2 duo they run at 1333 FSB !

Thanks for your reply.

 

In that case I should also change the motherboard  , if it so would I be able to keep may RAM memory, HD, Sound and Video Card?

 

Any sugestion for motherboard and Core 2 Quad?

Going that route means building a new system.

 

What you can re-use:

 

RAM

Sound card

hard drives (subject to reload of the OS;  see below)

Optical drive(s)

Video card.

 

What you will need to replace:

 

Mainboard

CPU

Heatsink

Fans

Case

Power supply

Windows install disc (you can't use an OEM install CD on a non-Dell mainboard).

 

There is no drop-in replacement board for your system - you need to build or buy a barebones system including a mainboard, case and power supply, and transfer your other components over.
