1405E Touch Pad left button

Anyone know how the left button key on the touch pad is attached? The right side button is fine but the left key appears to have loss it's spring tension. Does the key just snap on? I was hoping to be able to replace the spring?  TIA

The components of the palmrest aren't available new, separately - you would need to replace the entire palmrest assembly.

Is it hard to replace the touch pad...the left/right click keys are part of the touch pad assembly?

According to the person I spoke to at Dell Spare Parts, the refurbished part (the only one they sell) costs $35 and takes about 15 minutes to install.  See the manual section on their support website for instructions on how to do it.

Hi, I have the same problem, and it seems others do as well with this and other similar Dell laptops.  Clearly a defect in manufacturing, but Dell makes you buy the entire palm rest assembly to fix the problem.

RIP OFF!!!!!!
