1525 battery problem...??
I have a 1525 and when I plug it in and go to the bios battery section I have Idle, and unknown device. I just switched motherboards so is there something I needed to update with the power management or anything? I have already changed the power adapter boards, I have 2 and I get the same error so it shouldn't have anything to do with the board or plug itself. When I unplug the laptop the battery does hold but I do not keep it on for long since it only has 20% and will not charge at all. When I first turned the laptop on it started charging but got to 32% but just stopped and now we are here. If I take out the battery it still turned on no problem and everything else works., even with battery in it works fine just says plugged in, not charging when I hover over the battery icon. I have 2 adapters but only 1 plug and have a feeling it could be the plug, but could a bad plug cause this or would it not work at all if the plug was bad? (I am talking about the plug that plugs into the wall and connects to adapter, not adapter to laptop.). Thanks

No, this is a hardware issue.

Sorry messed up, the battery is being recognized under bios and is also shown as installed and working properly in Bios. It's under the ac adapter section in BIOS is reading unknown device installed. Yes the adapter is original PA adapter. Could it be the cord that could cause this or then entire adapter? I am guessing the adapter is more than likely the problem?

Ok thanks, so it would have nothing to do with any software or anything I need to update?

It's likely, if you've already tried new mainboards and power boards -- replace the adapter with a new Dell one.

Check to see if the AC adapter is also listed as "unknown". If it is, try a new adapter - unless the adapter is recognized, the battery won't charge. Is it a genuine Dell adapter?

Update. I took the battery out for a little bit maybe an hour or so and when I put it back in it charged up to 25% then stopped again. Did not check to see if the adapter was found in bios but it did charge again up to 25% but is not stuck on idle again??
