1525 inspiron problems!
Hello there ,
I bought my 1525 a month ago. just a few days after I got is it started showing weird problems.
there a rex X on my wireless netwrok tray though the internet is working.
I cannot restart or shutdown the computer, it's just stuck in the "logging of" screen
i cannot enter safemode.
the computer is very slow.
the computer get stuck sometims. i can't open simple things like task manager.
the strange thing is that this problem just come and goes!! (I know when it shows according to the red X on the wireless tray)
I also have problem with unexpected resets that i read about in this forum. (though the resets problem showed a month after i got the computer while the above problem just a few days later).
maybe the problems are related. i have no clue. what's annoying is that now the above problem doesn't show all the time so i can't try additional things to fix it. i't appeared last saturday for couple of hours and disapeared.
though the reset problem now seems constant.
what can I do ? anyone had those problems ?

Do you connect through a wireless network or do you 'plug in' to a hub or wired network?
The redX typically indicates an unplugged network patch cable and shouldn't appear if you are running reliably through a wireless network. If it is your patch cable your system is bogging itself down with 'acquire I.P.' and 'register on the network' commands.
If you are using it wirelessly then you are experiencing a hardware failure and the built in network adapter is failing and reinitializing. In this instance I would research the warranty and begin the process of having it repaired or replaced.
The hardware failure would also explain the random resets as it may very well be the motherboard that is on its way to going bad.

yes . it is wireless.
though i presented 2 problems i'm not sure related.
the reset problem was talked about in the following thread:
http://www.dellcommunity.com/supportforums/board/message?board.id=insp_bios&message.id=47165&jump=true#M47165
but the red X and the shutdown and etc..i'm not sure if related to the reset problem.
I think i'm losing my mind with this 1525 laptop.
I'm so sorry to bought it.

Try this, go to your BIOS and disable your internal LAN, not the wireless, and restart. If the problem goes away it is what I mentioned before, hardware failure. If it does not solve your problem I would disable your wireless card and see if the problem persists. Typically the wireless card will have to be disabled in the device manager, you could do both there but the BIOS is typically a stricter guarantee but not necessary.
If the problem goes away there I would suspect the wireless card needs to be replaced. None of these results aren't typical unfortunately.
But, on the bright side if neither of those solutions work then you can bet its software. Software solutions are more buggy but a lot less costly. However, I am still betting its the internal LAN.

Its best to start a new thread for your issue. Go to Dell.com and click support, follow the instructions and it will guide you through. If you can't get online with the same laptop simply give the website your service tag and it will tell you which drivers you will need.

If you have successfully stripped a screw while installing/uninstalling a device then I suggest a more patient approach. You cannot force a machined piece into place as a rule of thumb as this goes against the design principal of machined components. Also, you must read the service repair manual and do not assume that basic mechanical principals will apply to intricate machined components, especially those found in laptops. If you do not use patience and a soft hand you will unwittingly cause propagating errors within the system that could be easily avoided with a few precautions and maneuvers.
I have seen this happen too many times to be sympathetic to the result. I understand your frustration but I wonder how many of these problems could have been avoided if they were looked at by a more experienced technician rather than the assumption that you could do it yourself. Laptops are to expensive to just dive into and should be taken with a great deal of caution and care.
