1526 memory problems

Hello

I bought for my dell 1526 a kit of 4gb ddr2 667mhz (2 x 2 gb) but the problem is that the laptop does not boot with the ram kit installed.

I tried to use only one module of 2 gb and is the same thing. It powers up and stays with the power led on and does nothing.

I tried a separate 1 gb module and the laptop works fine.

Can it be that the ram is bad or incompatible?

thank you

Could be either - is the RAM Dell-compatible?

Hi andreipasca,

Dell Inspiron 1526 supports upto 4GB memory modules at DDR2 667 MHz SODIMMs speed. However since you have a known good memory module (1GB RAM), request you to try using it on both slots and check if it works. Also check if the memory modules are properly inserted as this may cause systems not to post.

Do reply with your findings.

Hello,

Both my slots work fine with the 1 gb module(module is Samsung) but my 4gb kit(also Samsung) is not  working not even one module at a time.

My kit is Samsung M470T5663EH3-CE6, can you tell  me if it is compatible with my dell.

Thank you

Hi andreipasca,

The Samsung M470T5663EH3-CE6 memory features are compatible with Dell Inspiron 1526. However since the 2GB memory modules are not working it might have failed.
