Hi clogan02,

In order to assist you further, I would need the exact system model no. of the computer. Beep codes may from system to system.

Awaiting your response.

Hi clogan02,

4 beeps for this system model indicate Memory read / write failure. The possible cause is Memory failure. I would suggest you to run the Dell Diagnostics to check the hardware functionality. Power off the computer -> restart the computer, press 'F12' key on the Dell logo -> Select ‘Diagnostics’ from the boot menu.

I would suggest you to re-seat the memory modules and check. Also, remove all the memory modules from the computer. Then put one RAM at a time in one slot and check if there is any change. Ensure that you check in all the available slots with just one RAM. You may refer to the Service Manual -> click on Manuals and Documentations. Please ensure to follow safety instructions.

Hi clogan02,

Try to drain the residual power from the laptop:

  • Disconnect any external peripherals (flash drives, printers, external hard drives) from the computer
  • Then remove the adapter and the battery
  • Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds
  • Reconnect the battery and the adapter
  • Try to restart the computer and check
Hope this helps.
