5 beeps on startup
I have a Dell Inspiron N5110 running Win 7.
It starts up with 5 Beeps, a short pause, then 5 more, and so forth.
When the Windows logon screen comes up, the beeps either stop, or sometimes continue but in a much lower volume.
I've been to the Dell system checks but can't find the problem.
Any ideas?

That would indicate a failure in the clock chip itself -- the mainboard will need to be replaced to solve the problem.

Replace the CMOS battery (reserve battery).

Good idea, but this N5110 has one of the hardest Coin batteries to replace that I've ever seen.
Got a new coin in, but still have the same problem.
Any other ideas?

Replaced the CMOS battery but still getting 5 beeps, short pause, then same again.
It seems to turn off once the Windows screen comes up asking for password. However, once I put in the PW and the Win 7 screen comes up, it continues the 5 beeps very softly -- never stops until I shut down.
Restart or boot up again -- same problem.
Now what?
