Supply and demand. Everybody orders the small battery with their system, leaving them with a shipping container full of the big ones. The 700m extended battery is cheaper than the standard one, too.

i did reinstall xp recently, but i cant imagine that is the problem bc when i take out the battery and press the button, it doesnt light up green. so its almost surely the battery itself. as for the other website, now i know for next time. i really just had no idea that batteries could go so fast, if at all. now i know, and knowing is half the battle. ahhh. thanks again.

Personally, I'd look for one on ebay or www.pacificbattery.com before buying from dell.

have you already tried to reinstall your windows? this could be the problem.
and do you have the newest (A09) bios version?
