Check the Display Options. There may be an option there to enable the TV Out.

Also, make sure that your tv is in Video mode.

This isnt my first notebook with tv out
I had 8600, 9100, 1100, toshiba and ibm.

So I tried everything on this 700m.

I was just wondering if anyone else with PARTICULARLY 700m notebook has similar problem.

Same thing happening here.
I have a 700M and I do not see anyway to enable TV-OUT.
On the 700M user guide, page 36,  it shows "Notebook, TV and other Devices" on the Intel Graphics Controller Properties Device Tag.  But mine only shows "Notebook", can't figure out how to select TV-OUT option.
Tried different kinds of graphic drivers, still no luck.
I am going to contact dell, but my service tag is still not valid yet.
If anyone know how to enable this TV-out feature, please reply.
Thanks so much.

I am using a s-video to s-video & composite cable, and it's a Toshiba TV.

I also tried to plug the composite cable to the VCR, but still same result.

I read some other forum and found out that there are many people having the same problem.  Someone claimed that the TV output option was there before the Hard drive is formatted.  (I had formatted my hd & reinstall the os also)  It seems like there is still some software/driver I need to install in order to make this work.

I tried many different version of video display drivers (from Intel & Dell), but could not find any one that works.

Any opinion please feel free to post.  Thanks a lot.

Sounds like the system isn't recognizing that the TV is attached.  Otherwise you would be able to see more choices in the Intel Display properties.  What kind of TV are you trying to attach to?  Are you using an S-Video to S-Video cable?

I tried both of the bios (only 2 available by now).
I connect composite to the TV (sorry, I dont know what the tv model is), I might try my sony one later.
Ok, if you have a 700M, when you do not attach the s-video cable, is the TV output option available on my display device tag??  Or you must connect the cable first, then the option is available to select??

Please advise.
Thanks a lot for replying.

I don't believe that there would be any other sw to install to make this work.  And, I don't really buy the "it was there before the drive was reformatted".  My concern would be more to the S-Video cable being used.  What BIOS does you have installed on the 700m?  Are you attaching to the S-Video on the Toshiba?  What model Toshiba (out of curiousity)?

So, the 700m User Guide looks to me to specify that the system will only support S-Video to S-Video.  If you hold down the Ctrl+Alt keys and then press F12, you will see the Intel Graphics Controller properties.  If the system is not connected to anything, all you will see is the Notebook on the left hand side.  When you connect to other devices like a TV, projector or monitor, you will see other items appear in the list underneath the Notebook icon.  If other devices are not "seen", nothing will appear in the list.  My suggestion at this point is to find a TV with an S-Video port and see if you can connect S-Video to S-Video as suggested in the User Guide.  This will at least be a good troubleshooting step.

Dell has not mentioned if 700m support ONLY svideo out nor if composite out is not supported in 700m.

right, it only states TV-out, i never know it does only support s-video to s-video.
Ok, I'll try the svideo to svideo connection.  Hope it will be working fine.

So, is anyone using s-video to composite on the 700m? (successfully?? :manmad: )
If so, please reply.

Thanks again for all the replies.

From the Owner's Manual:

You can use a commercially available S-video cable to connect your computer to the S-video input

on your TV.

I am too concerned about the same.
I don't think svideo to Composite should be a problem.
I checked intel's website for help on this graphics card.

Here is the link

http://support.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/cs-006316-prd39.htm

Look at the second note, it says if "Intel AIM 3.0 Codec" section does not appear in Device Manager and the graphics drivers are installed, then no TV-out or DVI chips have been detected

So may be Dell didn't install the DVI chip.

I talked to Tech support, he told me all the same steps that were mentioned in the Intel's Website and finally was of no help.

Did Dell forget to asseble DVI Chips or are there any others drivers that may resolve the problem.

Anyone succeded in connecting 700m to TV??

I'm having the same problem.  I've updated my bios, but there's no option there to enebale tv-out. I also updated drivers from Intel which seem even more current than those posted on dell's site, but still no luck.

did anyone get it to work using an s-video cable (i'm also trying it with the adapter.)
