512mb RAM a necessity due to the shared video memory. get it fom dell or buy it later, its up to you, but youll definately need the extra mem. other specs seem right, especially the 8-cell, i have it and youll need it. good luck.

256MB DDR PC2700
60GB harddrive *might swap it due to some problems with my current harddrive*
8x dvd-rom / 24x cd-rw combo
4-cell standard with additional 8-cell extended battery

well, it shows on Malaysia site that the AC adapter can be used for 90 - 240 VAC, but there aren't any description from USA site.. can any 700m owner from USA tell me how much VAC their adapter can run?

256 will be ok, but it really is the bare minimum for an XP based system. if you cant afford 512, then youll have to survive and it will work, youll just notice a pretty big slow down if you open more than 2-3 programs. Also, 512 will make all the programs open faster and close faster, which is where you want the speed.

256MB ram really is poor, i got fed up b/c it performs worse than my 700Mhz computer with 512MB RAM.  YOU NEED at least 512MB ram, even for word processing in order to do more than two things at once especially surfing the net.  as for power.  the power bloc is multivoltage but you'll have to get a two pring to three prong UK style to use there.  easy to do, and they are cheap.  as for mic, there is no built in mic, but there is a mic input socket for a mic in the front of the computer next to the socket for headphones and mini firewire port.  don't waste you mone on buying a second 256MB module.  buy the 512MB module and put in slot A under the keyboard.  Use the 256MB module and put it in slot B under the computer.  that will give you 768MB total which will be very nice.  then it allows you to update to another 512MB module for slot B in the future.  I bought a 1GB module and put it in slot A and used the 256MB module that it came with and put in slot B.
