sfnitro230,

Sounds like you may have a loose component. You may want to either contact Technical Support and get it serviced or look over the user's guide and see if you can figure out what is making the buzzing noise.

Thank you for choosing Dell.

I have the same problem and Dell has acknowledge the defect.  It has to do with a transistor that converts alternative electrical courant or something.  If you don't use the power cord (rely on battery), you won't hear it.  Same thing if your laptop is docked, you won't hear a thing because the transistor is not being used.

You can call tech support and they will replace the broken part but, depending on the kind of support option you chose, you might endup without your laptop for a while.

The thing that bugs me is that they knew from the get-go that the transistor was malfunctionning but because not everyone can hear it (it's a very high-pitch noise), they decided to go along and sell the computer and hope that not too many would be brought back.  Wierd and bad way to do business if you ask me.

Good luck,

SC

I do not think it is a loose part because it sounds like an electrical buzz.
