9100 Factory/Default settings..?

I'm curious as to how the system was originally configured.  For whatever reason, the way it was sent to me , the resolution was set to something else, (seemingly a lower setting) than what I have set right now (1680x1050 with the new drivers), yet the clarity and sharpness seemed to be better then.  I bought this system last June, and my screen is WSXGA ( i think?)  , the system is an Inspiron 9100.  I adjusted the DPI to normal and one other setting, yet I still notice a difference.  I just kind of want to go back to the way it was when I first got it.
