9300 Screen
Does anyone know whether the 9300 screen has that 'glossy' cover/coating? Many notebooks have that, giving it a more vibrant look, although it makes the screen somewhat reflective.
Thanks.

Hello All,
This is my first post to the boards so I may have done something wrong. In which case please forgive me. I'll try and not be a pest for you people.
I've learned so much just by reading. Now I have a question. I have ordered the Inspiron 9300 with True Life screen but don't know if it's what I want.
I went to a Dell kiosk yesterday and they had no idea what I was talking about? I would like to see the screen for myself to determine if it's glossy like the Sony. I have read it's glossy but ya know a picture is worth.......well you know the saying.
I read Thompssj's post and tried to view the photos but got red xx instead. Can someone please tell me what I need to do in order to view the photos of his 9300?
I purchased a 9200 last month but returned it due to the poor resolution. Then I got crazy and went looking at Sony's due to the glossy screen. All the while wondering why Dell hadn't come out with this same screen. This is why I really would like to view the screen prior to it's arrival.
If it's not the screen I want I'll just refuse to accept it.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hello orangefootedfrog,
If the 9300 you ordered has a UXGA TrueLife screen you will get both high resolution and a glossy screen very similiar to the Sony that you viewed.
The 9200 had both UXGA and XGA+ but neither had a glossy screen

orangefootedfrog,
I just tried the link in my post and the pictures are red x's for me now too. There's some issue now with how the guy has his images posted or his image host is currently down. Bummer. Maybe try again later to see if it gets fixed. It was the first real picture I've seen of a user's 9300 with the glossy screen. It looked very nice.

SJT,
Thank you so much for the information. I am not very "technically" inclined and thought for sure it was me.
So thank you again. I'll take your suggestion and am very happy to hear the WUXGA has a glossy screen.

Hello tony merc,
Thank you very much for this information. I have no idea how long I'll have to wait to receive the 9300 and the suspense was making me nervous.
It's been in pre-production all week and is supposed to ship on Friday 3/18. I see on the forum it's taking a while to reach the consumer. I'll post again once it arrives.
Thank you again,

I have no idea what Dell Canada is doing on their site (dell.ca). It seems in a matter of one week, they took out all references to 'True Life' on the 9300 display options. Both displays mention UltraSharp but that's about it. They also removed all HD options that had 7200rpm, leaving only 4200rpm drives on both the 9300 and XPS2 (go figure).
I'll have to wait till Dell Canada clears all that up. Hopefully they will soon.

Sometimes the website is lagging. If you want up to date information call Dell at 1 800-433-9014, make sure you have your order number available.

I am new to dell forum and as you sound pretty verised I would like to ask how does one tell the difference between the difference screens in question?
I ask beause I have just ordered the dell i9300 and the screen that was ordered with my laptop is 17 inch UltraSharp Wide ScreenXGA+ Display for Inspiron 9300 which I believe is standard
thank you

Hello t_ver,
The screen you ordered with your 9300, XGA+ has a lower resolution and a non glossy finish. The UXGA is a high resolution screen with a glossy finish, they are both Ultra Sharp.
