Hopefully you have a 1-year warranty. If so, call Dell for a replacement system board. If you took a short, 90-day warranty, contact an electronics repair shop to see if they can replace the power jack - if they can, it should cost $250 or less (vs. twice that for a replacement system board).
Of course, IF it's still under warranty. Many people made the mistake of buying these budget systems with 90-day warranties, an option Dell wisely has removed.
I contacted DELL because I have the year warranty. They ran through different things for me to do to check the power source. They are sending me a new AC cord. If this doesn't work then I will contact them again.....I took the battery out of the computer and tried to run the computer off the AC cord and that failed to work....What is a system board? This could be the problem??? Hopefully I just needed a new AC cord....
The system board is the main board inside the machine.
Unplug the AC adapter from the machine, but leave it plugged into the wall. If the LED comes on, it's fine, and you'll be calling them back for a pickup and return for a replacement board.
