Accessing Key Settings?

I'm having an issue with my keyboard settings on my Dell Studio 17, or it may be with the operating system, (Windows 7). Whenever I hit the Caps Lock, or Num lock keys, as well as any of the fn buttons, there's a small icon that pops up in the corner, which will often stop me from typing for a few seconds, or if I'm running something, will put me to the desktop to show this icon, and often if I'm playing an older game, this can cause the game in question to crash.

I looked online and found that there was a way to disable this function. http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-desktop/caps-lock-notification-appears-on-the-screen-when/285a5edf-eb03-4e19-93c3-63e869486180 This website tells me that I need to go into my Control Panel and select Keyboard, then a key settings tab where I can disable this.

The problem is that I go to the Control Panel, and I can't find it anywhere. There is no keyboard tab, nor is there anything under hardware, or ease of access settings. This is a really annoying function, and I'd really like to disable it ASAP. Can anyone help me?

Hi MechaMaestro,

To go to keyboard setting, in the ‘Control Panel Window’ click ‘Printers and Other Hardware’ and then click ‘Keyboard’.

Let me know if you were able to resolve the issue.

I can't find a "Printers and other Hardware". There's "Hardware and Sound"  but there's no place to access the key settings for my keyboard.

Hi MechaMaestro,

Open the Control Panel Windows and click view by ‘Large Icons’ and you should be able to view the ‘Keyboard’ in this category.

I did what you told me, but it just opens up a Keyboard Properties window with two tabs, Speed and Hardware.
