Adapter problem with XPS
My XPS15 does not recognize the standard AC adapter of this laptop. The first few months I did not have this problem but now I have.
I have followed the steps mentioned on the site , taking out the battery, update the BIOS, but all this does not help.
What can I do?

I created a sticky on notebook power issues; you can find it from the following link

From your post I take it that you can power the notebook with the AC adapter, but the system is giving messages that it is an incorrect AC adapter. The battery may or may not be charging.
If this is the AC adapter that shipped with the system, this will likely either be a defective AC adapter or the port that you plug in the AC adapter is damaged. Unplug the AC adapter from the wall socket, disconnect the power cable from the AC adapter and unplug the adapter from the notebook. Connect the power cable to the adapter; plug it into a known good power outlet. Does the power LED light? If so then plug the AC adapter into the PC, what does the power LED do then? The power LED will be a blue ring around the plug that inserts into the PC.
If the LED stays lit while connected to the PC it will likely be the Adapter that is defective and need to be replaced. If the LED goes out while connected to the PC then the notebook will likely need to be serviced.
