I've had the power supplies replaced under warranty before.  The problem you may face is the battery will run out before you get the new one. :smileysad:

 

If you're near a big box store, they sell universal power supplies for laptops.  You can get one with auto/air/AC power now and then replace your Dell power supply.

 

Check the wattage and make sure the universal PS has the same or greater.
