Adobe Reader
My hard drive crashed last week and Dell had me do a reinstall. Since then, I cannot pull up any files that require Adobe Reader/Acrobat. I try to install it and I get the message: Adobe Reader 8.1.2 Internal Error 2330. 23,c:\ProgramFiles\Adobe\Acobabt 6.0\Reader\Javascripts.
When I got to my add/remove programs, Adobe 6.0.1 is there.
I tried in remove it and then I get something that says Error 1706. No valid source could be found for product Adobe Reader 6.0.1. The windows installer cannot continue. I am totally confused. Can anyone shed some light? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

You should not even try to install such an old Reader. It is insecure. Install the latest version from here: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
That said, your problem could be with Java, as well as Adobe. Visit the Jave site to get the latest version. http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp
Note that you need to uninstall both Adobe and Java older versions manually using Add-Remove Programs. Uninstall anything Adobe first in Control Panel, reboot and then download the latest version and try to install again.

Mary,
I tried both of these, and I get the same messages. I am at a loss as to what to do next. Any other ideas?
Thanks.
Michelle
Also, when I try to delete the Adobe 6.0.1, it will not do it. It gives a message: Fatal Error during installation. Why if I am trying to remove it, does it try to install. I am so confused. I have not a lot of computer skill, as you can tell.
