"Alien" mouse wandering around the screen erratically
Hi. Running C600, have updated Bios and synaptics touchpad drivers, but mouse is as bad as ever, wandering to the corners, refusing to come out and click, often dashing across the screen activating whatever it passes over, and sometimes going to top right hand corner and clicking the close box. Most annoying.
Suspect something to do with having a joystick, touchpad and a logitech three button trackball (all came with the dell) at the same time - wonder if possible to kill the touchpad and joystick altogether - how would I do that in windows or in Linux Suse? ( I out linus on to see if the mouse behaved better - it isn't quite as wild under SuSE) The euro.dell.support suggests that I clean my hardware - I have done, no effect. All suggestions gratefully received if my mouse and I can re-establish a working relationship.
Many thanks, Bill

I know this does not help you but I have the same for over two years now on my c800. I have read that the touchpad unit itself needs replacing. However since I have used it no more than ten hours in the life of this box that does not make sense. SO if you will be so kind as to post a fix here if you find one.
Thanks
Roger

In the C600, the fault is commonly caused by the trackstick in the keyboard. Replacement of the KB should fix it. In the C800 the problem is commonly caused by the touchpad, which is fixed by replacing the palmrest. Alternatively, if you load the latest touchpad drivers on either of these laptops, you should be able to disable either device accordingly which should fix the problem.
