Alienware Factory settings ?

Hello,

Recently, my laptop (Alienware 13", late 2014) started running very slow so I decided to reset it to factory settings. When I purchased the laptop, it came with a USB drive so I was under the impression that the USB drive contains the factory default image. I booted the computer using the USB drive. However it ended up installing a simple version of windows 8. None of the alienware software is installed, and I have 12 uninstalled drivers when I go to the "Device Manager". Can someone please help ?! I have tried contacting dell's support, but have had no luck. the person who is corresponding with me speaks poor English and doesn't really understand the problem. Please note:

  • Currently, the recovery partition is still there. When I go to "Disk management" I can see a 7GB recovery partition, as well as a "500MG drive". So when re-installing the windows, I only formatted the C drive and didn't remove any of the partition.
  • I never created a factory settings disk, as I was under the impression that the laptop comes with one, and the USB drive that was on the laptop IS the factory image.
  • I am really screwed now. haven't been able to use the laptop properly for two weeks now.

Isn't there any way to get the factory image somehow ? or to recover the laptop properly ?

Please help :(

Hi j9zz,

The USB drive that comes with the system is just a vanilla version of the Operating System you purchased, it isn't the Factory Image unfortunately.

There are a couple of options that you can use to get the laptop working again. You can:

1. Install all the drivers and software from here

2. Download and install AlienRespawn from here and watch the video in this article that shows how to restore the Factory Image

Both of these methods would get you back up and running although the AlienRespawn option would ensure that all the features that you had when you 1st used the system will definitely be there.
