ati2dvag infinite loop

I have been looking all over for a solution to this problem. My computer keeps freezing and crashing with a blue screen discribing the nature of the air. It comes up with atidvag. had been caught in an infinite loop, it also says that the driver was over loaded by the program however I have played this very same game all the way through on this system before and had no problems. The first thing I tried was finding patches and updates for the game thinking that my have caused the problem, then I tried to update the video driver itself, but it says its up to date. I am using an ATI Radeon X1400 Mobility graphics card and because this is a dell computer I can not update the driver directly through ATI. If anyone knows of any solutions to this problem please let me know. Thanks.
