I do not know off the top of my head what the offical Dell stance is, but one bad pixel is definately below the threshold.  To see what you can do about it, go over to the Customer Service Forum and post your question there.

In that forum, the Dell moderators will try to help you if they can.

if its a brand new computer, i think you can send it back just by customer satisfaction. but if it is after 30-days, i think the policy is 10 bad pixels in one area before they replace the lcd.

Having a TFT screen without any dead pixels is extremly rare indeed. I have a 1920 x1200 res TFT screen with one odd coloured pixel, ie light blue no matter what the coulr should be. But its in a corner and I never really notice it =)

Sometimes dead pixels develop after a couple of months in a brand new screen, after that no more develop.

Nah the official polity on industry standard TFT screens is 5 or 6 dead pixels.

Any more than that the screen is below industry standard. I know cus I know people who work in that kinda thing. TFT screens have about 5 to 10% yield, even less for the super high resolution ones. Thats why there get progressivly more expensive.

If you have dead pixels in the middle of the screen or ones that are grouped togther then thats different and should be replaced even if the screen has less than 5 or 6.

Hope this helps.

If in doubt speak to dell. I had mine replaced in my 8000 because I had 7 dead pixels.
