Base System Device driver
I just upgraded my laptop (Vostro 1000) to Windows XP Pro SP3. It originally had Home Edition. This one driver wont install from the original driver disk. I've been to the dell website but can't seem to locate the driver for this device. Location: PCI bus 8, device 1, function 1. I've tried a numbr of different things like uninstalling but it wont detect the driver from the disk that's suppose to have the drivers for my laptop. Any suggestions?

There isn't a specific driver for devices like that. The drivers for them are included in the chipset drivers set.
Go back to the 'Drivers & Downloads' section for your laptop on the Dell website, and download/install (all) the latest drivers available - since a number of them are likely to have been updated since the disc sent with your system was created :emotion-55:
