Base system device missing vostro 1000
Gave winows 7 a try, then reverted to vista, saying need base system driver, i know its something about the chipset/smart.... but honestly dont know what driver i need to install. Is this also reason my wireless isnt working. Reinstalled dell wireless software still no luck.

Re wireless: Did you install both the network drivers, and the drivers for your particular wireless card?
But Dell's drivers need to be installed in a certain order.
Not installing them in that order, *can* lead to problems :emotion-55:

What didn't you like about Windows 7/what is it you prefer about Vista?
Or was it maybe because you had trouble finding compatible Windows 7 drivers for some of the components?
If it was the latter... did you try the Vista drivers?

Thanks for that, I just loaded as they came!! Will try again.
Just liked vista better and couldnt find driver for an epson printer. Mind was same when switched xp to vista.
