Battery Indicator not working properly
I am experiencing a problem with my Dell XPS15 L501X laptop battery. When i put it on charge the battery charges till around 40%(when the problem started it used to get charged till 80% but now it charges only till 40%) and then the battery indicator starts flashing orange and white(4 flashes of red and a white continously) and the battery indicator shows 40% plugged in, not charging!!
Initially i thought my battery is not working properly and i need to replace it but the battery status shows "Battery performing normally". And today i noticed another strange thing- my laptop doesnt die when it actually says low battery. It runs for atleast 1 hour after showing that the battery is at 7%. Basically the charge reaches 7% and then stops reducing.
I guess my battery is working fine but there is some problem with the indicator!! Can someone please help me out on this?? Would be of great help.

Hi Chiragvaya,
Thank you for the detailed description of the issue. I recommend you to reseat the battery and flash the BIOS from the following link:
http://dell.to/12pA8P5
Note: While flashing BIOS connect the Ac adapter and make sure the battery has minimum 15% charge as this needs uninterrupted power supply. Do not use the system till it restarts and comes up to the desktop.
Also check the Ac adapter status in BIOS. Restart the system and at Dell logo tap the F2 key every two seconds. Check what is listed for Ac Adapter Type.
If the issue persists even after flashing BIOS, check with a known good battery. This will help us to decide if it is the issue with the system or the battery.

I tried flashing the BIOS but it says my version of BIOS is already updated. The AC adaptor type is listed as 90W. I guess i will have to check with a good battery!!
Thanx for the support. I will update once i am done checking with another battery.

Hi Chiragvaya,
I have not received an update from you on this topic. In case the issue persists even with the known good battery, you may consider replacing the battery. Send me a private message with the system service tag if the system has warranty. In case the system is out of warranty, let me know the region you belong to, to provide the contact information to get the system serviced.
