Beware Poor Products!!!
I purchased the XPS 1530 3 months ago and since that time the mother board had to be replaced, the hard drive had to be replace, and countless number of hours on the phone with tech support restoring the computer...If Dell was such a great company and willing to stand by their product this computer would have been replaced. A good company would have said hummm...We messed this one up...Please let us replace it and you will see this is not the norm for our products. NOT the case. They would perfer to send a tech to my home over and over.
Watch out!!!

What were the symptoms? Did it involve NTFS corruption? If so, I'd like to know the details of your configuration and the exact date you received your unit. I got mine in early June.
If NTFS corruption was your issue, one user has had some success by always doing a Shut Down instead of Hibernate, Sleep, or even Restarts.
There are many of us out here in the forum that are already in the same boat with the 1530's. So, thanks for the warning, but you're too late.
I agree with your thoughts. Dell Support from a decade ago would have replaced the unit and apologized for the inconvenience. That's why I buy Dell's (I'm sorry, bought Dells). Now it's, "Thanks for the 2 grand. Hey, nice paperweight."
I begin my tech merry-go-round later this week...

Honestly, dell support is not that bad. True sometimes you will get people who have absolutely no idea what you are talking about but for the times I dealt with them I've been happy.
Take for example my new M1330 laptop. I got free next day business day shipping along with additional discounts for it.
I remember having a problem with my monitor on my desktop computer (replaced with a new unit)
My bro just recently had a problem with an entire line of dead pixels on his laptop screen and he got it replaced with a new screen. So they are not bad actually.
You have to be respectful. Give no respect, get none.

To my badluck, while visiting Dubai in April 2007, I purchased a brand new packed DELL XPS 1210 at a high premium price! but in about a year's time, my NoteBook has absolutely stopped functioning.
The problems are:
- Battery is completely dead (It does not charge and the computer has been running on AC power since last three months)
- The Screen had developed two lines since 3 months of purchase of NoteBook
- Now the Screen is totally blanked out (BLACK) and NoteBook was being only running on an external LCD.
- However since two (2) weeks, even this has stopped working
- And I have got blue screen with message “HARDWARE MEMORY ERROR”, contact manufacturer.
I am unable to access my very valueable office and private data. This DELL NOTEBOOK has become completely OUT OF ORDER in about a year’s time. I only wonder, is this the quality of a world renowned machine?
I had my note book inspected by the distributor Shahnawaz (Dell Distributor and Service Center in Pakistan) , who informed that the motherboard is faulty, screen is faulty and battery is dead!! I have purchased this expensive Notebook on 10th April 2007 and in approx one year the note book is finished, not useable? All my investment in the DELL brand has gone wasted?
What should I do now, throw the expensive notebook in trash can and buy a new DELL Notebook?
Can somebody comment or help me out?
