Bios Version A12 Problem

Hi, i have a Dell Latitude CPi R400GT useing the BIOS version: A12 -
I am wanting to change a setting in the BIOS but i cant, i can use the "Change Fields" function with the UP and DOWN keys on my keyboard but i cant use the "Change Value" function with the LEFT and RIGHT keys - no error apeers it just seems that thos 2 keys dont work. I hooked up a keyboard to my notebook but still thos keys dont work. Is there some security function keeping me from changeing values in the BIOS? If yes how can i turn it off?.

Thank you for anny support you can give me,
-Tingel

Hi,

It sounds like you have a Bios password. If you have proof of ownership, Dell may be able to supply a new one.

Look on the page which shows the Password entries; you will likely find a Admin Password Enabled and  a Configure Setup Disabled. You use the Admin password-if you know it- to first Enable Configure Setup and then use it again to disable the password; the Configure Setup line will then disappear. If you do not know the Admin Password, call Dell Support if you are the original owner or have had ownership transferred to you

Hi,

If all else fails, you can replace the MBD for under $40.
